Cabbage And Noodles – A Kid Friendly Thing To Eat

This recipe is and oldie but a goodie! My mom’s good friend gave her this recipe over forty years ago.  Growing up in Indiana, each summer, my dad would pick fresh cabbage out of the garden for this dish. It’s still a favorite for my parents, and I keep this dinner going with my family. Hopefully, one day my kids will be serving this for their family dinners! Enjoy!

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • 4 T butter
  • 1 t garlic
  • 1 medium/hot pepper – you choose on the hotness meter – sliced
  • egg noodles – cooked to package directions and drained
  • 1 head of cabbage
  • salt & pepper to taste

Now, let’s get cookin!:

  • Melt butter in a large non-stick frying pan over med-high heat – my mom uses a whole stick, but I try to conserve and use half stick. It makes me feel like I’m eating a little healthier with only 1/2 the stick!
  • Add garlic, pepper and cabbage

  • Cook, stirring occasionally, and turning cabbage over so the top layer gets some time at the bottom – until cabbage is tender and translucent
  • Add more butter or olive oil – if needed
