New Year’s Eve Noise Makers for Kids
Kids usually never need an excuse to make some noise, but we rarely give them something to do it with. This fun New Year’s Eve Craft is an exception. Not only is it a great recycling craft to make with the kids, but it is also a fun party accessory. Around here, we love celebrating with the kids on New Years Eve, and we usually make something fun to celebrate with like these mini pinatas, or pull-apart party poppers.

Supplies You’ll Need
- Mop & Glo (or another multi-purpose floor cleaner) – this works as glue for the glitter to adhere to the surface, but it’s easier to distribute than glue, as it is liquid.
- Fine glitter – Various Bright Colors. Extra fine glitter works perfectly for this noisemaker bottle craft.
- Empty Plastic water bottles with lids
- Small rocks, rice, tiny bells, or glass beads
Equipment Needed
Funnel – You can find kitchen funnel sets, and you can also find funnels in the automotive aisle
How to Make a Water Bottle Noisemaker
- Over the sink or a large bowl, pour some Mop & Glo into the water bottle. Put the lid on, and swirl the cleaner around the inside of the bottle to cover the entire inside surface, including the top of the lids.
- Remove the lids, shake a good amount of glitter into the water bottle, and turn the bottle around, swirling the glitter all over the Mop & Glo.
- To apply glitter to the lid, you can put the lids back on and shake again to add some glitter to the inside of the lid.
- Take the lid off and let the glitter dry to the side for a bit (a few minutes)
- Add your noisy objects to the inside of the glittered water bottle.
- Seal the lid to the bottle – Voila’ You’re Done
Expert Tip
Shake out any excess floor cleaner so the glitter does not pool at the bottom before adding the glitter. Add an excessive amount of glitter and shake out any extra glitter to reuse on the next cup
Use a funnel to add glitter to the bottle. You can find these for the kitchen, but you can also find them in the automotive aisle for oil changes
Variations
Make this same craft with see-through plastic cups. You’ll need to place two cups with the tops held together to transfer the Mop&Glo and distribute the glitter. You’ll also want to use strong duct tape to seal the cups together after you add your noisemakers

Homemade Water Bottle Noisemakers
Materials

I’m wondering why Mop & Glo? Does it dry? If so, how long did it take.
I don’t know why Mop & Glo works, but it does. Another preschool mom told me about the trick, years ago. I believe when I made these last year, I used a generic alternative to Mop & Glo. I just used another multi-surface floor liquid cleaner. It’s probably the protectant the floor cleaner adds to their products. It acts as an adhesive. It will dry pretty quickly. (maybe 5-10 minutes?) Just take the lids off of the bottles for a little while. When you’re satisfied, tighten the lids. To really secure the lids, you can even add a little hot glue. I actually kept the bottles that I made for the kids last year. They still have the glitter on the sides, and even on the inside of the lids. They look just like the day that I made them. I hope the bottles turn out well for you. ~ Happy Holidays
