DIY Fruit Fly Trap – Kid Friendly Things To Do

Ugh! Those pesky fruit flies. They are just waiting for you to set out the fresh produce that you just spent half of your paycheck on. Who wants to eat a banana when a colony of fruit flies has been hanging out there all day?! They multiply overnight!  They are so difficult to get rid of. Sometimes you just have to put all of your food into the refrigerator, and just wait for cold weather to take care of them. Over the years,  I have used this handy dandy DIY fruit fly trap to get rid of these home invaders. Here’s the how-to:

You’ll Need:

  • Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Dish Soap
  • Tape
  • A Sheet of Paper
  • A Cup or Bottle

Now:

  • Pour some apple cider vinegar into the bottom of your glass
  • Add a couple of drops of dish soap, and stir so the soap is distributed throughout
  • DIY Fruit Fly Trap
  • Roll you paper into a funnel, and using the tape to help secure it
  • DIY Fruit Fly Trap
  • Place the funnel with the narrow tip down just a little bit above the apple cider vinegar
  • Seal the outside with tape
  • DIY Fruit Fly Trap
  • The flies will travel down to the vinegar, and won’t be able to figure out how to travel back up the cone
