This cornbread stuffing is a great base for anything you want to add! Delicious!

This Cornbread Stuffing is so delicious! You can use the basic recipe as a base for almost any fun ingredient you want to add to your stuffing. I added cranberries, pecans, and sweet potato to mine. But, you could add sausage, bacon, mushrooms, Brussels sprouts, etc… This stuffing can go in a slow cooker, in the bird, or a baking dish! Here’s the recipe:

You’ll Need:

  • 1/4 cup of unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup of sliced celery
  • 1/2 cup of chopped sweet onion
  • 1 cup of chicken broth
  • 1/2 t of salt
  • 1/2 t of ground sage
  • 1/2 t of chicken or poultry seasoning
  • 1/2 t of pepper
  • 1 14 oz. bag of dried cornbread cubes – (6 cups of dry cube)

Extras:

  • 1 large cooked sweet potatoes – cubed
  • 1/2 cup of fresh cranberries
  • 1/2 cup of chopped pecans

Now:

  • Using a large Dutch Oven, melt the butter over medium-high heat.
  • Cranberry, Pecans, and Sweet Potato Cornbread Stuffing. This is a great base recipe for all of your stuffing extras! A bonus, it can go in the slow cooker, and save room in your oven!
  • Add the celery, and onion. Cook until tender – about 5-7 minutes
  • Stir in the chicken broth, and seasonings
  • Cranberry, Pecans, and Sweet Potato Cornbread Stuffing. This is a great base recipe for all of your stuffing extras! A bonus, it can go in the slow cooker, and save room in your oven!
  • Add the remaining ingredients, and toss

  • You can stuff your turkey with some of the stuffing, like I did
  • Put the rest in a covered baking dish, and bake for the last 30 minutes your bird is cooking at about 325 degrees
  • An alternative is to add this to a slow cooker, and bake on low for 4 hours.
