Slow Cooker Homemade Spaghetti Sauce

The best ever homemade slow cooker spaghetti sauce.Easily change the flavor from spicy to mild. Freezes Well!

This is my all time F-A-V-O-R-I-T-E Spaghetti sauce! Fair warning – it’s a spicy one. I like it hot. This is just that! If you don’t like spicy, then you can easily change that. Just buy sweet, or mild Italian Sausage in place of Hot Italian Sausage. This sauce freezes well for simple last minute dinners, too! Love that! Here’s my recipe for the best Homemade Spaghetti Sauce – in a Slow Cooker to boot!

Prep Time

Ingredients
  1. 1 lb. of italian sausage - remove casings (I used Hot Italian Sausage)
  2. 2 - 28 oz. cans of crushed tomatoes
  3. 1 - 10 oz. can of diced tomatoes with italian herbs
  4. 1 - 14 oz. can of stewed tomatoes
  5. 1 tsp. mustard powder
  6. 1 tsp. garlic powder
  7. 1 Tbsp. of dried basil
  8. 1 tsp. garlic salt
  9. 1/2 tsp. onion powder
  10. 1/4 tsp. each of salt, and ground black pepper
  11. 1 Tbsp. of olive oil
  12. 1 sweet onion - diced
  13. 1 green pepper - chopped
Instructions
  1. Place the ground sausage in the bottom of the slow cooker
  2. Add the canned tomatoes to the top of the sausage
  3. Add spices on top
  4. In a skillet over medium heat, sautee the onion and green pepper in the olive oil until they are tender - about 5 minutes
  5. Place the pepper, and onion over the spices
  6. Stir everything together until it is all mixed in, and the meat is broken up
  7. Place the lid on the slow cooker, and set on high
  8. Cook for 4-6 hours
  9. Serve over cooked Spaghetti noodles
Notes
  1. To avoid water sauce, leave the lid off of the slow cooker for the last hour to allow the water from tomatoes to evaporate
  2. Once sauce has cooled, you can freeze the sauce in freezer bags! Just take the sauce out when you are ready, and place in a sauce pan, with a lid on over medium heat until heated through
