Homemade White Hot Chocolate

Winter Drinks usually go by one rule. They must be warm and cozy like this Slow Cooker Rich and Creamy Hot Chocolate, or Mom’s Spiced Wassail drink. However, when it is snowing outside, the kids and I like to fill a bowl of snow and make homemade snow cones. It’s so much fun.

Ingredients:

white hot chocolate ingredients
  • 2 cups of half and half
  • 6 cups of milk
  • 12 oz. package of white chocolate chips
  • 1 t vanilla
  • optional dash of nutmeg – and/or – cinnamon

How to Make White Hot Chocolate

bring to a boil and reduce the heat

Expert Tips

If you use a crockpot – set the heat on low and pour everything in the pot. Cook until melted. Mix everything and serve

Some people will tell you that you must get good chocolate like Ghirardelli and that might impact the flavor a little bit, but I do not agree that it is necessary. I used Wal-Mart White Chocolate Baking Chips and the drink was rich and decadent – full of delicious flavor. We swore that this would be our new cozy winter drink.

Variation

Make this a crockpot hot chocolate. Place everything into the slow cooker and set it on low. Cook on low for 1-2 hours. Stirring occasionally

FAQs

Can I make White Hot Chocolate in a Crockpot?

Yes. Pour everything into your slow cooker and cook on low for 1-2 hours. Stir occasionally

How do I prevent white chocolate from clumping in my hot chocolate?

The key is to get the milk warm enough to melt the chocolate. Stir it well so that it is mixed with the milk.

Storing White Hot Chocolate

Place cooled-off white hot chocolate into a container with a lid and store it in the refrigerator. You can store it as long as the milk and half and half is good, so check the expiration dates on the cartons.

Reheat in a saucepan or bit pot – on low until warmed through. Mix chocolate with the warm liquid until it melts again.
