  • add candy eyes
  • place half of the Hershey’s snack bar over the Reese’s

Make-Ahead and Storage:

These cupcakes are best eaten the day of making them but can, when covered and stored at room temperature will stay fresh for up to 2 days.

Tips and Tricks for these Abraham Lincoln Treats:

  • make these cupcakes as easy on yourself as possible by using a boxed cake mix baked in a muffin tin (cupcake pan)
  • another shortcut is to use store-bought chocolate frosting
  • you should be able to find a bag of snack-size Hershey bars in the candy aisle, but if you can’t – you could always use regular-sized bars broken apart in sections for the hat
  • cut a section out for Reese’s cup with a knife and notch out another bit of cupcake above that for the hat top to rest on
  • if you are struggling to get something to hold because your frosting is too thin – mix a little bit of powdered sugar into the frosting to thicken it up
  • no need to frost these cupcakes. Kids will get a bit of frosting from Abe’s beard and a little under the eyes and Hershey’s bar, as well. Other than that, they can enjoy all of the yummy treats on top of the cupcake

Is your frosting too thin?

  • If you find your frosting is too runny to hold anything, try mixing powdered sugar into the frosting to thicken it up
  • Another method is to mix in softened butter
