What kind of chocolate do you use for making Chocolate-covered Strawberries?

You can use Chocolate Melts – which is chocolate that is easily melted and is usually found in the cake decorating aisle, or you can use chocolate chips.

Should you put chocolate-covered strawberries in the freezer?

No. The freezer will damage the strawberries’ firm texture.

Make-Ahead and Storage:

How Do I Store My Chocolate-Covered Strawberries?

Chocolate-covered strawberries should ideally be eaten the day of making them. They can be made a couple of hours in advance and stored at room temperature.

Storing Leftovers:

You can place them in an airtight container with a blanket of wax paper directly over them and store them in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Ideally, they will be eaten within the first 2 days as chocolate in the refrigerator becomes chalky, and the strawberries themselves will expire soon after.

Instructions:

(grab the printable with full instructions below)

  • You’ll want to melt your chocolate using the package directions until it is smooth
  • *I usually pour the melts into a bowl and microwave for one minute, then stir until smooth. If needed, I microwave for another 30 seconds and then stir until smooth
  • Gripping the strawberry, dip it into the chocolate and spin it around until it is coated all the way up to the top of the strawberry. Some red will still be exposed
  • Lift your strawberry into the air, and holding it over the bowl, continue to swirl it around, getting most of the excess chocolate off
  • Next, set your chocolate strawberries on wax paper to dry
  • Optional: Once they have dried, pull the leaves off dip the other end into the chocolate, and let it dry on the wax paper.
  • Now, arrange five strawberries with the tops facing inward on a plate or platter
  • Place an Oreo Cookie in the center
  • Continue making more until you have several sunflowers for display at your party.
