Cracker Barrel Copy Cat Hash Brown Casserole Recipe – Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or potlucks.


  • 1 (30 oz.) bag of shredded hash browns – thawed
  • 1/2 cup of butter – unsalted – melted
  • 1 can of cream of chicken soup
  • 1 small – sweet white onion – chopped
  • 1 pound of shredded cheddar cheese – divided
  • 1 tsp. of table salt
  • 1/2 tsp. of ground black pepper
  • 1 cup of sour cream


  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
  • Grease your 8×10 inch baking dish
  • In a large mixing bowl, mix the onion, soup, salt, pepper, and most of the shredded cheese (reserving 1 cup of cheese for the topping)
  • Add the sour cream and mix in
  • Now, Pour the melted butter in
  • Add hashbrowns, and stir until combined
  • Spread the casserole mixture into your greased pan
  • Bake for 45 minutes
  • Sprinkle on the reserved cheese and bake for an additional 10 minutes

  • Heat by baking, covered in foil until warmed through, or place individual portions on a microwavable plate and microwave until heated through
