This delicious Flatbread Pizza Appetizer – or a light meal, uses pre-made thin crust pizza and is simple to throw together. It’s perfect for tonight’s New Years’ celebration or any other holiday appetizer.

Flatbread Pizza Appetizer – with caramelized onions and asparagus

You’ll Need:

  • 2 Round Thin crust pizza
  • 1 Tblsp. of Olive Oil
  • dash of salt
  • 1/2 cup of coarsely chopped red onion
  • 1 bundle of fresh asparagus
  • 1/4 tsp. ground pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. of ground mustard
  • 4 cloves of garlic – minced
  • 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup of mayonnaise

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 Round Thin crust pizza
  • 1 Tblsp. of Olive Oil
  • dash of salt
  • 1/2 cup of chopped red onion
  • 1 bundle of fresh asparagus
  • 1/4 tsp. ground pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. of ground mustard
  • 4 cloves of garlic – minced
  • 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup of mayonnaise

Instructions

  1. Pour the olive oil into a skillet, set over med/high heat
  2. Add the asparagus and continue to cook turning over occasionally until the onion has turned translucent and browned
  3. Lightly salt the vegetables
  4. When those are cooked, turn the heat off and set aside
  5. In a medium sized mixing bowl, add the ground pepper, mustard, garlic, cheeses and mayonnaise
  6. Stir together, and spread over the pizza crust
  7. Add the cooked vegetables
  8. Bake at 450 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned
  9. Cut into wedges and enjoy!
