Make A Pumpkin Out Of Toilet Paper

If you don’t mind lending some of the precious toilet paper to your display, I have the Fall/Halloween craft for You.

I have heard of this idea before, but I completely forgot about it.  Until, my daughter’s girls scout troop made them.  I loved her pumpkin so much.  It was kid friendly enough for her, and looked so cool.  It went right on display! & I made plans to shop for pumpkin making supplies!

Here is what you’ll need to get started: For Each Pumpkin –

  • A roll of toilet paper
  • Some Quilter’s Batting -Or something similar for extra fluff.
    Cut it about 16 inx9in
  • A sheet of brown paper.  I used a brown piece of construction paper.
  • Around 20×20 inches of Fabric for your pumpkin. We had fun shopping for some different Halloween Patterns.
  • Brown Yarn or Brown Rope to cover the stem
  • Fuzzy Wires to make the curly stems
  • Pencil
  • Something for the leaf or leaves.  I used some metallic wire ribbon.  Felt would work, or another piece of fabric.
  • Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks

  • Make 2 lines of hot glue down your half your paper roll/stem, and quickly wrap the paper roll with your yarn or rope.  You only need to cover half of the stem. Don’t worry that the other half is not covered.  It will be inside the pumpkin

  • Take your batting or stuffing, and wrap it around your toilet paper.  This gives it a fluffy look when it’s done.  Secure with more glue.
  • Place your fluffy toilet paper roll in the center of your fabric square.

  • Now, pull up your fabric and stuff it into the center of the toilet paper roll.  Keep going all of the way around.
  • (You can secure it with more glue, if it needs it.)
  • Push your stem into the center.

  • Take your bendy, fuzzy wire, and wrap it around a pencil.  Slide it off of the pencil, and pull slightly.  This is your curly stem.  Wrap it around your Center stem!
  • Add a leaf or leaves for embellishment!
