FAQs

Make-Ahead and Storage:

Can I Make this Dip in Advance?

Yes! You can mix the bottom layer several days in advance. Just mix it before you spread it on the platter and layer it with guacamole and a sour cream web

Making Ahead: Mix the cream cheese, salsa, and taco seasoning. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready. Spread in a round dish, spread guacamole, pipe sour cream and make into a web

Storing: Unfortunately, once exposed to air, most avocado dishes like guacamole will brown. If you plan on storing any leftovers, cover with plastic wrap and store in the fridge for a day or two

Freezing: This recipe is not recommended for freezing

How do I Keep Homemade Guacamole from Turning Brown?

I have heard that you can soak scooped-out avocado flesh in salt water (2 cups of water to 1/4 cup of salt) for about 10 minutes. Take avocado halves out and mash them into your guacamole recipe. This apparently stays green and does not discolor

What Can I Serve with Taco Dip?

  • tortilla chips
  • cut vegetables

Are you ready to make this fun Halloween Dip? Let’s make sure you have everything you’ll need:

taco dip ingredients

Ingredients:

  • cream cheese – softened to mix easily
  • salsa – I like to use mild chunky
  • sour cream – I do not use low fat. It’s a party, so I figure full fat, full flavor and we can cheat a little bit
  • taco seasoning – I only use about one-half of the packet
  • guacamole – I used pre-made store bought but if you have a favorite recipe then that’s even better

How do you make this Web Taco Dip?

(full instructions in the recipe card below)

  • Mix 1/2 of the sour cream, cream cheese, salsa, and taco seasoning
  • Spread into a round casserole dish
  • spread enough guacamole over the center taco dip to cover about 3/4 of it
  • pipe a dot of sour cream into the center of the guacamole, and make 3 rings around it going all the way to the edge of the guacamole
  • use a knife to pull from the center dot of sour cream to the edges of the dip – in about 6 sections (like you are slicing a pie)
