Easy Flip Flops Rice Krispies Treats {A Fun Summer Snack}

Make these fun flip-flop rice krispies treats to welcome summer.

Equipment

  • 1 9x13 inch baking pan
  • 1 oval cookie cutter
  • 1 ktichen shears
  • 1 wax paper
  • 1 silicone spoon
  • 1 medium saucepan

Materials

  • 6 cups rice cereal
  • 3 Tbsp. unsalted butter
  • 4 cups mini marshmallows fresh
  • ¼ cup M&Ms you will use 12
  • 1 5 oz. fruit roll ups - I used tye-die box - amount used will vary

Instructions

  • pour rice Krispies into a large bowlStoring
  • melt butter in a saucepan
  • add mini marshmallows and stir until they melt
  • remove from heat and pour into the rice cereal
  • stir until fully mixed
  • place wax paper into the pan
  • pour the rice cereal and marshmallow mixture into the pan and spread out
  • Flatten with your silicone spatula or spoon
  • Remove the rice Krispies from the pan, wax paper and all
  • spray the cookie cutter with cooking oil

  • use the cookie cutter to make oval shapes out of the rice cereal mixture
  • *you can take the scraps, mold them together and cut more shapes from them

  • pinch the middle of the oval shape to make a foot shape
  • unroll the fruit roll up
  • cut 2-3 inch long (narrow) strips out of the fruit roll ups
  • Pull the paper backing off and lay 2 of your long/narrow strips into a V pattern at the wide end of the flip-flop shape
  • add an M&M by pressing it into the center of the V
  • Repeat with all of the ovals shapes
  • you should end up with about 12 flip-flops

Tip

*try to work while the rice cereal/marshmallow mixture is still warm. Once the mixture cools, it starts to harden and you won't be able to use the melted marshmallow as your glue.
Storing:
These are best when served the day of making them. The fruit roll ups and the marshmallow will start to harden when exposed to air. If you want to make them in advance, store them in an airtight container at room temperature
