Classic Buttermilk Pie Recipe

Materials

  • ½ cup unsalted butter - melted and cooled
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • 3 eggs - beaten
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 9 in. deep dish pie shell

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees
  • In a large bowl, cream the sugar and butter together
  • Add flour and mix in
  • Whisk the eggs and mix them in
  • Pour in the buttermilk, salt, and vanilla and whisk to mix
  • Pour into pie shell and bake for 10 minutes
  • Reduce heat to 350 degrees, and bake for 40 more minutes
  • *buttermilk pie should be golden brown on top and the knife inserted should come out clean
  • Allow pie to cool for about 2 hours
  • Best when served warm
