Amish Dinner Rolls {So Soft and Delicious!}

Materials

  • 2 cups warm water about 110-115 degrees F.
  • cups sugar
  • 1&1/2 tbsp. yeast
  • ¼ cup oil
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 5-6 cups flour all-purpose

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, with a whisk - Mix water, sugar and yeast until dissolved
  • Add salt and oil
  • Mix in the minimum flour amount and mix in the extra cup as needed - dough should still be a little sticky during the first rise

  • Knead until smooth and elastic

  • Cover dough with clear wrap and place in a warm place to rise for one hour or until doubled
  • Punch down. Divide in half
  • Roll into 24 rolls and place in greased baking pan (pan should be about 9x13)

  • Cover again and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled

  • Bake in a preheated 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes on the middle rack of the oven

  • Rolls should be golden on top and cooked through

Notes

Water temperature for yeast:
  • water should not be boiling. It should be hot but you should be able to touch it without it being too hot for touching
