A Witch Hat Cupcake

Witch hat cupcakes that are easy to make for Halloween

Materials

  •  
  • 10 oz. of chocolate melts - I used dark chocolate
  • 24 bugles
  • 24 frosted cupcakes - store-bought or make your own. Preferably with a Halloween-colored frosting purple, green, orange, yellow, or black
  • Halloween sprinkles - nonpareils
  • 24 Oreo cookies - Halloween
  • 24 star sprinkles

Instructions

  • pour chocolate melts into a glass microwave-proof bowl
  • microwave them for 1 minute, and stir with a silicone spatula until smooth. If needed microwave for another 30 seconds
  • prepare to dip Bugles by setting out wax paper and melted chocolate
  • put Bugle chips (one at a time) into chocolate. Use a fork to turn them. Slide the fork under the chocolate-covered Bugle and lift them up and to the edge of the bowl. Tap the fork to release excess chocolate lift them out of the chocolate and place them onto wax paper
  • while the chocolate is still melted set a star sprinkle onto each Bugle  - and let dry
  • sprinkle frosted cupcakes with Halloween sprinkles
  • twist the Oreos apart and set the cream half upright so the orange is on top
  • place chocolate covered Bugle onto the orange cream-filled center

Make Ahead and Storage:

Can I make witch hat cupcakes in advance?

Although, these cupcakes are best served on the day of making them. You can make these cupcakes a day or two before your party. Store them at room temperature in an air-tight container

What Colors Should I Make the Frosting?

  • brown chocolate frosting
  • chocolate frosting colored with black food coloring to make black
  • orange frosting
  • purple
  • bright green
  • yellow

Tips and Tricks:

  • heat chocolate melts in a glass microwave-proof bowl for about 1 minute, and stir with a silicone spatula until smooth. If needed, microwave for another 30 seconds
  • use wax paper to set chocolate-covered Bugles and other chocolate-covered utensils onto
  • place sprinkles and decorations onto chocolate while it is still melted so the chocolate will set and harden as a glue
