Materials

  • A Paper PlateScissorseces for each hat
  • Plastic Solo cup or Hefty Cup around 16 oz.
  • Pom-Poms - 6-8  per hat
  • A temp glue gun and glue sticks
  • Hole punch
  • Elastic cording - about 12 inches per hat
  • Ribbon or Yarn - about 6 ( 3-inch long) pieces Optional: if you plan on dangling pom-poms from plate

Instructions

  • Trace the solo cup in the middle of the plate
  • From the hole you traced on the plate, cut a smaller circle out of the middle, leaving a small border
  • *the hole in the plate helps prevent the hat from sliding off of your head, but you do not want to make it so big that the cup slips through
  • Glue the Solo cup upside down over the hole

For Dangling Pom-Poms

  • Glue pom-poms onto  one end of your 3-inch long pieces of ribbon
  • decorate the hat with ribbon and pom-poms by gluing them to the underside of the plate

For Pom-Poms on top of Plate

  • Glue about eight pom-poms directly to the top brim of the plate

Making a Chin Strap

  • Use a hole punch to make 2  tiny holes directly across from each other on either side of the rim
  • Tie around a 9 in. piece of elastic cording on to help keep the hat nice and secure
  • *you may need to adjust the length of the elastic cording for the kids. Older kids might need more slack
