A Valentine Card Holder For the Classroom

Materials

  • 2 (12x18 inch) contrasting Valentine's Day colors of construction paper
  • Glue - like a glue stick or 3-in-1 craft glue from Beacon
  • Stapler - optional for added support
  • Foam stickers - optional
  • Markers or crayons to decorate and write names on hearts

Instructions

  • Stack the two papers on top of each other and fold in half lengthwise
  • Using scissors, cut out half of a heart-shape
  • Unfold the half hearts to reveal two full hearts
  • Cut wide strips from the scraps to make handles - Combined it should be about 16 inches long.
  • Overlap the two hearts like they are petals on a four-leaf clover
  • Fold the edges together to make a giant heart that is two different colors and glue the overlapping edges
  • Glue the wide strips together to make one long strip
  • Crease the ends of the handle to fit into the heart handle to the inside of the heart seams
  • Optional: Use a stapler to add extra support for the handle
  • Decorate and add the names to the outside
  • Hang them on the backs of chairs or line them up in front of the class on hooks
