Step 1
Flatten the mini cupcake wrappers and arrange them in an overlapping row on the white cardstock. Use one wrapper for the caterpillar head and several colorful wrappers for the body.Step 2
Glue the cupcake wrappers onto the cardstock using a glue stick. Slightly overlap each wrapper to create the caterpillar shape.Step 3
Leave some of the outer wrapper edges slightly lifted instead of gluing them completely flat. This gives the caterpillar extra dimension and texture.Step 4
Glue googly eyes onto the caterpillar head. Draw a smile with a black Sharpie.Step 5
Use a hole punch to cut small circles from pink glitter paper and glue them onto the caterpillar’s cheeks.Step 6Cut two small pieces of black pipe cleaner for antennae and glue them behind the caterpillar’s head. Step 7
Attach pink pom-poms to the ends of the antennae.Step 8
Use a black Sharpie to draw simple legs underneath each cupcake wrapper section.
Crafts and Activities should be supervised by adults at all times. Small items are a choking hazard.
A glue stick works much better than liquid glue for this project because the cupcake wrappers stay flatter and dry faster.
If the cupcake wrappers keep popping up, cut a small curved “C” shape into one side of the wrapper to help it lay flatter on the cardstock.
For extra dimension, only glue the center portions of the cupcake wrappers down and leave some of the edges slightly lifted.
