- Scissors
- Hot glue gun (adult use)
- Glue stick or craft glue
Materials
- 1 plastic or felt St. Patrick's Day hats
- Gold coins (plastic or chocolate)
- Green pipe cleaners
- Shamrock decorations
- Tissue paper, felt, moss, or fake grass
- Cotton balls (optional)
- Glitter (optional)
- Rainbow decorations (optional)
- Small paper sign ("Free Gold!")
- St. Patrick's Day decoration
Instructions
- Ask an adult to cut a hole in the top of the hat.
- Place gold coins underneath the hat to lure the leprechaun inside.
- Cover the opening with tissue paper, felt, moss, or fake grass to hide the trap door.
- Decorate the top with gold coins, shamrocks, and a rainbow.
- Twist pipe cleaners into a small ladder leading to the top of the hat.
- Add a "Free Gold!" sign near the entrance.
- Scatter shamrocks, glitter, or gold coins to create a path leading to the trap.
- Set out your trap before bedtime and check for leprechaun surprises on St. Patrick's Day morning!
Notes

- Let kids decorate however they like—every trap is unique!
- Keep the trap lightweight if it will be taken to school.
- Hot glue works best for securing decorations after kids finish decorating.
