Notes

Can I Make a Watermelon Fruit Bowl Ahead of Time?

You can certainly prepare the fruit bowl several hours in advance, but do not add fruit to it. Cover it with plastic wrap and store it in the refrigerator until you are ready to add fruit to it.
Making this Fruit Bowl in Advance: Do not mix cut-up fruit together until shortly before your party. Some fruits will start to get soggy when combined with the sugar or juice from other fruits. Watermelon does not stay crisp overnight. Strawberries soften too much when combined with juice for too long. So, carve your fruit bowl the morning of your party and store it covered in the refrigerator. Shortly before your party - about 30-45 minutes, prepare a bowl of cut-up fruit. Scoop the fruit into the fruit bowl and store in the refrigerator until ready to serve
Storing Fruit: Fresh fruit is highly perishable and even more so when sliced up. Store fruit covered in a very cold refrigerator for best preservation
