Equipment
1 wax lined platter or small baking sheet
1 Pair of scissors
3 popsicle sticks cut in half
Materials
3bananas
6oz. chocolate melts brown or black
12candy eyes
18M&Ms orange
Instructions
Cut popsicle sticks in half
Peel bananas and cut in half
Push popsicle sticks into bananas
Place them onto the wax-lined platter
Freeze the bananas for 2-3 hours
Pour the chocolate melts into a small to medium-sized bowl
Melt the chocolate. I like to place my melting chocolate into the microwave for 1 minute. Stir, and then, if necessary, microwave for an additional 30 seconds. Stir until smooth.
Take frozen bananas out of the freezer
Dip the bananas on their sides so that only the back, top, and sides of the banana is covered in chocolate - leaving the belly without chocolate
Dip the tip of the banana into the chocolate so the forehead of the penguin is covered in chocolate. The chocolate should cover about 2 inches of the top.
Set the banana down on the wax lined platter
Quickly add the candy eyes while the chocolate is still melted
Dip the tops of the M&Ms into the chocolate
Push the chocolate dipped M&Ms sideways just under the eyes for the beak and two more along bottom of the banana for the feet
Because the bananas were pre-frozen, they are ready to eat, or you can store them in the freezer for an hour to fully set.
