Materials

  • Paper cup
  • Paper towel roll (or empty wrapping paper tube cut down)
  • Olympic flame printable
  • Olympic rings printable
  • Scissors
  • Tape and Glue stick

Instructions

  • Print the flame and Olympic rings onto cardstock.
  • Color the flames.
  • Cut out the flame and rings.
  • Glue the Olympic rings onto the paper cup.
  • Cut a hole into the bottom of the cup - just large enough for the paper towel, but not too big that it falls through. You want it to slide up and down.
  • You can cut the paper towel in half to make shorter torches or leave it intact for a long torch to hold
  • Push the paper towel roll up through the hole
  • Secure the flame to the paper towel tube tape or glue
  • Let kids parade their torches around for their own opening ceremony

Notes

Adults should always supervise crafts and activities - small items are a choking hazard.
