Make-Ahead and Storage

Can I make this watermelon fruit bowl ahead of time?

Yes and No. You can carve the watermelon and scoop out the flesh. Cut the watermelon into cubes and store it covered in the fridge. Prepare the other fruits by cubing them and placing each fruit in a separate container for storage.
Some fruits are probably not the best prepared in advance like strawberries, apples, pears, and bananas. They should be added at the last minute

How do I store a Watermelon Bowl?

Some fruits are more perishable than others and do not store well. For the most part, you can store cut-up fruit inside the bowl, covered, and in the refrigerator for 3-5 days

How to Keep Fruit Fresh Longer

  • using acidic juices like orange juice, lemon juice, lime juice, or pineapple juice can lengthen the life of fruit. Just toss the fruit with the acidic juices to prolong their fresh quality
  • citrus sodas like 7-Up, Lemon-Lime Soda, and Sprite can also be tossed with fruit to lengthen their freshness
