- 2 Tbsp. olive oil
- 1.5 lbs. stew meat
- 1 cup flour
- 4 cups beef broth
- 28 oz. tomato sauce
- 3 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- ½ tsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 Bay leaf
- 12 oz. mixed vegetables frozen - add more if you like your veggies
- 6 medium Potatoes peeled and cut into chunks - I prefer red potatoes
In a large non-stick skillet, over medium/high heat, add the olive oil and let warm up
While the olive oil is heating up, in medium size bowl add flour, and toss the stew meat in the flour - coating the meat
Add coated stew meat to oil, and cook browning meat, for about 5 - 10 minutes - turning to evenly Brown & scraping the bottom of the pan to loosen the cooked meat and coating
In the slow cooker add the cooked stew meat plus the scrapings from the pan
Add the rest of the ingredients
Place the lid on the slow cooker and cook on high for about 6 hours
Remove the bay leaf, and serve
- If you prefer to cook this on the stovetop - bring the stew to a rolling boil, turn it down to a simmer, cover and simmer until beef and potatoes are tender - About 1&1/2 to 2 hours
