Easy to make old-fashioned slow cooker beef stew

- Cook Time: 6 hours
- Total Time: 6 hours 15 minutes

Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp. olive oil
- A package of stew meat
- 1 cup of flour
- 4 cups of beef broth
- 1 large can of tomato sauce – 28 oz.
- 3 Tbsp. of Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp. of garlic powder
- 1 tsp. of salt
- 1 Bay leaf
- 1 Package of frozen mixed vegetables
- Potatoes – peeled and cut into large pieces
Instructions
- In a large non-stick skillet, over medium/high heat, add the olive oil and let warm up
- While the olive oil is heating up, in medium size bowl add flour, and toss the stew meat in the flour – coating the meat
- Add coated stew meat to oil, and cook browning meat, for about 5 – 10 minutes – turning to evenly Brown & scraping the bottom of the pan to loosen the cooked meat and coating
- In the slow cooker add the cooked stew meat plus the scrapings from the pan
- Add the rest of the ingredients
- Place the lid on the slow cooker and cook on high for about 6 hours
- Remove the bay leaf, and serve
Notes
- If you prefer to cook this on the stovetop – bring the stew to a rolling boil, turn it down to a simmer, cover and simmer until beef and potatoes are tender – About 1&1/2 to 2 hours
