Marshmallow Ghosts on a String {Halloween Game to Play}

A fun and easy game to set up for Halloween
Author: Melissa Haines

Materials

  • Jumbo marshmallows *My photo shows regular-sized marshmallows, but I think Jumbo marshmallows would be the most fun and challenging
  • Black food marker
  • String Strong enough to withstand kids tugging on it
  • Broom - a fun wooden broom that resembles a witch broom would be great for a Halloween Game *Alternative to a broom is a rope. It will sway more and make this game a little bit harder for older kids

Instructions

  • Draw ghost faces on marshmallows
  • Tie a long string around ghost marshmallows and tie a knot at the top of the marshmallow

The Pole

  • You'll either have to...Have 2 adults hold the broom up (this aslo allows the adults the option of swaying the broomstick or pole making the ghosts swing back and forth to make it more challenging)
  • OR - if you have limited help, prop it up on 2 ladders spaced far apart with the broom ends secured with duct tape and/or rope to the steps
  • *vary heights to allow for the different heights of the kids - you may need to adjust the height as you see the kids standing under the pole
  • Line up the players  so they are about mouth level with the ghost marshmallows

Playing

  • Players should put their hands behind their back
  • Making it more challenging It's up to you if you want to sway the broom a little or flick the strings they are in swinging motion to make it harder for players to grasp them
  • When you are ready, yell go!
  • Players should try to eat their entire Ghost Marshmallow without dropping any on the floor
  • *If it drops - they are out

Variations

  • Have kids sit in chairs to play the game. This way they are all about the same height
  • Blindfold the kids! I know this is mean, but it would make it more challenging and fun to watch
