Materials

  • Plastic Cup I used a 16 oz. Plastic cup for this craft
  • Scrapbook papers in an assortment of colors and patterns I used four different sheets
  • Brown paper
  • Orange paper
  • Red yarn or felt
  • Googly Eyes
  • Yarn
  • Duct tape or masking tape

Instructions

  • Before the kids can help make this craft, prepare the cup using sharp scissors to make a hole into the bottom center of the cup. Twist the scissor point back and forth until it punctures the cup.
  • Start the turkey craft by making the face of the turkey. Cut a circle out of the brown paper that is about 1.5 inches in diameter.
  • Cut out a small orange beak to fit onto the brown circle and a little gobble out of the red yarn or felt.
  • Glue those onto the brown circle
  • Add the googly eyes to complete the turkey face
  • Using the colorful scrapbook papers, cut out feathers that are around 4 inches long.
  • Fan the feathers out so they overlap at the bottom and glue them together
  • Add the turkey face onto the feathers. Set the paper turkey aside.
  • Use a sharpened pencil or another tool to push the long piece of yarn through the hole in the bottom of the cup.
  • Pull some of it down through the cup to wrap tape around it.
  • Wrap a piece of tape around one end of the long piece of yarn. This tape should be wrapped around the yarn several times, making a big wad of tape that will not fit through the hole in the cup.
  • Glue the paper turkey onto the front of the cup and let that dry Now, you can use the turkey craft.

Making the turkey gobbling noise

  • While holding onto the bottom of the cup, pull upward on the yarn that is sticking out of the cup. Do this quickly over and over to hear the turkey make noise.
