FAQs

Make Ahead and Storage:

Can I make these turkey treats ahead of time?

Yes! These Thanksgiving treats are a great treat to make a day ahead. The only possible setback you might have is if your Hershey’s kiss has a sugar bloom – overnight. That will discolor the chocolate by making it look like it has specks of white on the chocolate

Recommended: Make these the morning of your fun party or event. This way, the chocolate won’t have much time to react to a possible sugar bloom

What is a Sugar Bloom?

Sugar bloom is the sugar coming into contact with moisture and dissolving, then as the chocolate hardens, the sugar sets again and settles at the top of the chocolate making it look like it has white spots

How Do I Prevent Sugar Bloom?

Try to avoid drastic changes in temperature and do not store the chocolate in a moist place

Store these Thanksgiving turkeys at room temperature for a couple of days. They do not have to be covered

Tips and Tricks:

  • Pay close attention to the oven temperature. You want to warn these at a very low temperature
  • These are so easy to make and come together quickly. You should have plenty of time on the morning of your party to make dozens
  • when you take out your cookies, the fudge from the cookie should be melted onto the candy corn and the Hershey’s Kiss should be soft

Are you ready to make these fun Turkey Cookies? Let’s make sure you have everything you’ll need:

Ingredients:

  • Fudge-covered Oreos – These are already covered with chocolate and will make your life so much easier
  • candy corn – you’ll want these for the turkey feathers
  • candy eyes – I just used the regular-sized eyes that you can find in the cake-decorating aisle at most grocery stores
  • orange M&Ms – these should be regular, milk-chocolate M&Ms and will be used for the beak
  • red mini M&Ms – this will be your gobble
