Why cut stars out of watermelon when nature has provided a star fruit? With or without the blue dye, these fruit kabobs look patriotic with blueberries, star fruit, and strawberries! Add a little white chocolate to some of the fruit and sprinkle some patriotic colors on top to add to the fun! Here’s what I did to make these fruit kabobs!:

You’ll Need:

  • Star fruit – Get the ones that are yellow with a little bit of green on the tips, and some brown spots ( In this case: brown does not mean rotten)
  • A bowl of water dyed blue with food coloring (optional)
  • Strawberries washed with leaves cut off
  • Blueberries
  • Wilton White Chocolate Melts
  • Patriotic Sprinkles
  • Skewers
  • wax paper

Now, here we go:

  • Patriotic Fruit Kabobs
  • You can either trim your star fruits brown edges or leave them alone – I did it both ways and the kids didn’t notice
  • The WHOLE fruit is edible! – minus one or two large seeds that you may encounter

  • If you are dying some blue, place those pieces in your blue water to soak up some color

  • Set all of your prepared goodies in front of you, including the melted white chocolate and some wax paper

  • Throw some blueberries into the chocolate and spoon those out onto the wax paper
  • Immediately hit them with some sprinkles! They will dry pretty fast, so hurry

  • Now, just start getting artistic with your choices and layer the skewers
