Donate your extra Halloween candy and Easter candy. Candy Donations teaches the kids about giving back to their community and feeling good donating to a worthy cause.

Are you a little overwhelmed by the amount of candy in your house? When Easter Bunny was a little too generous, or Halloween was too big of a success, think about donating excess candy to a good cause.
Yesterday, a mom talked about getting the sugar fairy to take the candy to her house. I remember feeling the same way after some holidays. I know a lot of parents get invaded by too much candy. It all starts on Halloween, then goes to Christmas or Hanukkah, New Year, Valentine’s Day, and finally, Easter before you can balance the sugar in the summer months. But what do you do with it? I have a hard time just tossing it. It might not be healthy food, but it seems like a waste.
So, I started thinking about when a teacher collected excess Halloween individually wrapped candies. Then, I did some digging on my own. If you are interested in giving excess candy after ANY HOLIDAY, and possibly some toys (not required, but optional if you feel the need for some Spring cleaning!)
Here’s what I came up with and where you can donate your unwanted candy.
Operation Shoebox
Not just for Christmas. Operation Shoebox accepts candy donations all year long. Give the troops a reminder that someone back home is thinking of them. Find more information and the candy donation form here on the Operation Shoebox FAQ page
Ronald McDonald House
The Ronald McDonald House loves to get packages for the kids. Please find a local Ronald McDonald House through their website.
- Put a package of gently used toys, plush animals, nonperishable foods, snacks, and candy together, and take the kids to deliver it.
Food Banks
Finally, your local food bank may accept candy. Call to check before you go.
Soldiers Angels
This site collects candy around Halloween and just about any time. Check out their Treats for Troops page to learn how you and your family can donate excess candy to the military.
Halloween Buy Back
Teach the kids about giving back and some entrepreneurship when they trade candy for cash, coupons or a fun gift from a local business. Find out more about Halloween Buy Back.
