Alternatives to Contact Paper for Suncatchers

If you don’t have contact paper, try one of these simple options:

Clear Packing Tape
Lay strips of tape across the back of the frame, sticky side up, place the tissue paper, then seal with another layer of tape.

Laminating Sheets
Self-adhesive laminating sheets work just like contact paper and create a sturdy suncatcher.

Clear Sheet Protectors
Slide the finished craft inside and trim around the edges.

Wax Paper + Glue
Brush a thin layer of glue on wax paper, place the tissue paper pieces, and seal with another sheet of wax paper.

Plastic Page Protectors
Perfect for classroom crafts — just place the tissue paper between the sheets and tape the edges.

Tips

  • Let kids choose their own color combinations for a stained-glass effect.
  • Layering tissue paper creates brighter, richer colors.
  • These look beautiful displayed in kitchen windows, classroom windows, or glass doors.
