Valentine Jell-O Dessert

I love how the Red Jello Heart Pops out of the White Jello. This Valentine’s Jell-O dessert will be a big hit around the table on Valentine’s Day.

Valentine Jell-O Squares

Ingredients:

3 large boxes of red jello (6oz. ea.)
4 cups of boiling water
10×10 pan – greased
Heart Cookie Cutter
2 packages of Knox unflavored Gelatin
1/2 cup of cold water
1&1/2 cups of boiling water
1 (14 oz.) can of sweetened condensed milk
9×13 pan-greased

Instructions:

Use a large saucepan to boil 4 cups of water
Add the Red Jello and stir for a few minutes until it is completely dissolved
Pour into your greased 10×10 pan (9×9) would also work
Refrigerate for a few hours – making sure it is nice and firm like a jello jiggler
Use a knife to loosen the edges of the jello and invert it onto a cutting board lined with wax paper
Cut 6 hearts out of the red jello and place the hearts into the 9×13 pan

Pour the cold water into a spouted bowl
Add the unflavored gelatin packs by sprinkling them over the cold water
Let stand for 1 minute
While that is setting up, boil the 1&1/2 cups of water in a saucepan
Pour the boiling water over the gelled gelatin
Add the condensed milk and stir in
Let it cool off to room temperature

Pour into the 9×13 pan – do not pour directly onto the hearts
Stop before you are even with the hearts so the hearts are slightly higher than the white jello
You will probably have white jello left over
Chill for a couple more hours
When ready, cut into squares and serve

Notes

  • *Mayonnaise make the best natural grease for jello! Just put a little dab on some paper towel and rub around the pan
