how to make easy chocolate covered strawberries

Make beautiful and easy Chocolate Covered Strawberries for your loves…

Ingredients

Chocolate Melts – specifically brown and white for this recipe, but you can also add other colors

*I used Wilton Melts, but you can use chocolate bark or even chocolate chips to melt – check packaging directions for melting instructions

Strawberries

Extra Equipment Needed…

Microwave proof glass bowls

Silicone mixing spatula

wax paper

Candy squeeze tubes – one per color for decorating

Pot of hot water for warming chocolate (not boiling, just very hot)

Paper towel

Instructions

Pour the white and brown chocolate into 2 different bowls

Melt according to package directions

*I like to microwave the chocolate melts for about 1 minute, stir and then microwave for 30 more seconds

Rinse strawberries and then use a paper towel to dry them completely

Set out wax paper

Holding the stem…Dip the strawberries into the melted chocolate, and turn them around to coat them

Hold them over the chocolate for a few seconds to allow the excess chocolate to drip off

Place them onto wax paper to dry

Repeat until all of your strawberries are covered in white or brown chocolate – I like to keep it even, half brown and half white

Reserve some chocolate for decorating

Reheat the white chocolate for about 30 seconds and stir until smooth

Pour the smooth chocolate into a squeeze tube

Decorate the strawberries covered in brown chocolate by going back and forth in even lines over the strawberries with your white chocolate

*I like to start on the wax paper, just beside the strawberry, and loop the chocolate back and forth without ever lifting the squeeze bottle up until finished

Now, heat the brown chocolate and decorate the white strawberries with lines

Let them dry

That’s it!

Notes

For other candy or nut decorations…

sprinkle the chocolate covered strawberries with nuts or sprinkles immediately after dipping each one – while the chocolate is still in a liquid state

If you want to have your squeeze bottles prepared ahead of time…

As soon as you have heated your chocolates, pour a small amount for decorating into squeeze tubes

Place the squeeze tubes filled with chocolate into the hot water to keep the chocolate from drying

If necessary, take the lid off of your squeeze tube and microwave the lid and tube next to each other for about 10 seconds to melt chocolate again. Twist the lid back onto the squeeze tube and use while chocolate is hot and flowing smoothly.

*You can always pop chocolate back into the microwave for about 10-30 seconds to reheat it

*TIP

If chocolate will not smooth out when heated. If it stays thick and unusable…

*use a very small amount of shortening, or coconut oil (hardened form) to instantly smooth chocolate out (start with about 1/8 tsp. and add more if needed)

*add the shortening to the thick chocolate and stir – it should become smooth almost instantly
