Shamrock Handprint Idea for St. Patrick’s Day

Making homemade crafts with the kids is one of the best times you can have with them. We’ve always enjoyed creating together, especially around the holidays like St. Patrick’s Day. It’s so much fun to look back on the things we did when the kids were little, like making leprechaun traps, a fruitloop rainbow necklace, and a paper cup pot of gold.

For years, I always tried to come up with a special gift to give the grandparents of each kid. Handprint crafts were always the most special and something that they cherished. This time, we made an adorable four-leaf clover handprint made from hearts that the grandparents can hang on the wall or mount to the fridge as a reminder that the kids love them very much.

  • Large sheet of white cardstock – a 12×12 inch piece
  • Light Green paper – 12×12 inches. I used a scrapbooking sheet with a plaid design.
  • Green paper – another shade for the stem. You can use scraps from the sheet you cut hearts from. I liked using a different type for contrast for the handprint shamrock.
  • Glue stick
  • Green acrylic paint – I used a dark green.
  • Rainbow striped ribbon – I found a striped rainbow ribbon that I thought was the perfect touch to this St. Patrick’s Day craft.

Variations

If you have four kids, just like me, then you can have each stamp their handprint on the individual leaves of the four-leaf clover. It will be a four-leaf clover with four different handprints, and so cute.
