Flower Pot Number Matching Activity (Printable + Sensory Bin Idea for Kids)

I made this flower pot activity when I needed something simple to keep little hands busy while still working on counting—and this ended up being the one we kept coming back to.

I’ve tried a few different counting setups over time, but this version is easy to prep, easy to reuse, and actually holds kids’ attention longer than most.

If you’re looking for a low-prep, hands-on way to practice number recognition and counting, this one checks all the boxes.

👉 This is the version that finally worked without kids losing interest halfway through.

We love pairing it with simple sensory bin printables and other easy matching activities like these fun, colorful chicken matching printables or some of our fun spring printables to keep kids engaged and learning.

  • It’s simple to set up and doesn’t require a lot of materials

Expert Tips

You can add pipe cleaners as stems to make it feel more like a little garden

I love to set this up on a grass mat to make it feel like a little flower garden—it makes the activity even more fun and inviting.

You can also spread the pots around (top and bottom like we did) so kids have to move around a bit while counting—it keeps it from feeling repetitive.
