Slow Cooker Shredded Chicken Recipe

Chicken in a Crock Pot Recipe



Dry Rub

  • 2 Tbsp. Dry Mustard

1 Tbsp. of each

  • Parsley Powder – or Dry Parsley Flakes
  • Garlic Powder
  • Paprika (Spanish)
  • Minced Onion
  • 1/2 tsp. of Cumin
  • 1/2 tsp. of Ground Black Pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. of Cayenne Pepper
  • 2 tsp. of Salt

Additional Ingredients for Slow Cooker Meal

  • Whole Chicken – about 6 lbs.
  • 1 Large Vidalia Onion – Sliced
  • Whole Carrots
  • Bay Leaf


  • 2 Tbsp. of flour mixed with 2 Tbsp. of Water


  1. Prepare the dry rub by mixing all of the dry rub spices together in a medium size bowl
  2. Place Most of the onions and carrots into the bottom of the slow cooker
  3. Rub the chiken with dry rub, rubbing some underneath the skin
  4. Place the chicken in the slow cooker
  5. Add the rest of the onions, carrots, and bay leaf into the Cooker
  6. Place on Low, and cook for 6-8 hours, Basting Occasionally


  1. Pour some of the juices out into a saucepan
  2. Gradually pour the flour and water mixture into the juices and whisk together
  3. Heat until gravy thickens
