Expert Tips
Hershey’s Kisses are made from milk chocolate, which starts to melt from your body heat once you pick them up. Try not to handle the kisses too much and move quickly during this step.
Variations
Melt the butterscotch chips to use as glue for the chocolate Hershey’s Kisses and the cookie and glue the butterscotch chip to the top of the wafer
Use peanut butter sandwich cookies as the top of the acorn cookie in place of the vanilla wafer for a peanut butter acorn cookie
Use melted chocolate to glue the chocolate kiss to the cookie and to glue the chocolate chip or butterscotch chip on to of the cookies.
A peanut butter chip would also make a delicious stem for your cookie
Use other seasonal Hershey’sKisses flavors like Hershey’s Kisses with Almonds
An Acorn Cookie Cupcake Topper
Turn your acorn cookies into a fall cupcake dessert by spreading vanilla or chocolate frosting onto a cupcake, some fall-colored sprinkles, and your acorn cookie topper
Melting Chocolate
If you decide to use melted chocolate in your acorn cookie then use a microwave safe bowl to melt the chocolate. Melt in short bursts like 30 seconds up to 1 minute and 30 seconds. Each time, stir the chocolate to see if is smooth enough to use
