  • Construction paper in:
    • Red
    • Orange
    • Yellow
    • Green
    • Blue
    • Purple
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick

How to Make a Paper Chain Pot of Gold

Step 1: Print the Pot of Gold

Print the pot of gold template from our free printable post.

Cut out each pot.

Step 2: Cut Rainbow Strips

Cut construction paper into strips about 1 inch wide.

You’ll need multiple strips in each rainbow color.

Step 3: Build the Paper Chain

Take one strip and form it into a loop. Glue the ends together.

Thread the next strip through the first loop and glue to form a chain.

Continue alternating colors in rainbow order:
Red → Orange → Yellow → Green → Blue → Purple. Do not close the purple loop yet.


Step 4: Attach the Pot of Gold

Loop the purple through the blue loop and the pot of gold handle. Glue to secure to both of them.

  • Scissors

Instructions

  • Step 1: Print the Pot of Gold

    Print the pot of gold template from our free printable post.
    Cut out each pot.
  • Step 2: Cut Rainbow Strips

    Cut construction paper into strips about 1 inch wide and 6–8 inches long.
    You’ll need multiple strips in each rainbow color.
  • Step 3: Build the Paper Chain

    Take one strip and form it into a loop. Glue the ends together.
    Thread the next strip through the first loop and glue to form a chain.
    Continue alternating colors in rainbow order:Red → Orange → Yellow → Green → Blue → Purple – Do not glue the purple yet.
  • Step 4: Attach the Pot of Gold

    Loop the purple piece through the blue loop and the pot of gold and glue to secure.
    You can add one at the bottom — or one at both ends if you want it to hang centered.
