Candy Apples

Easy to make Candy Apples for a fun fall treat.

  1. Have your apples ready – washed, stems removed, and twigs pushed into the middle
  2. You’ll want to mix the first three ingredients together in a medium to large saucepan
  3. Have your candy thermometer set in place
  4. Get your heat up…all the way up, and let it boil, stirring every once in a while
  5. Watch the thermometer. It takes a while (probably 10-15 minutes) to start getting really hot, but Once it hitsĀ  250 it goes fast
  6. As soon as it gets between 300 and 310 degrees, remove the candy from the heat source
  7. Add 1/2 tsp. of vanilla, and stir in
  8. Add some red food coloring – enough to make it a deep red – just keep adding and stirring until you love i!
  9. Get your parchment paper ready, dip, and roll the apples into the red candy
  10. Place them on the parchment paper to cool
  11. For your black apples – only once you’ve got enough red apples – add black food coloring to the red, and keep going until you have a deep purple – almost black color
  12. Dip more apples into the black candy, roll, and place on paper to cool
