Cauldron Brownie Bites – Easy Halloween Treats for Kids
This post may contain affiliate links – please read my disclosure statement.
These cauldron brownie bites are little Halloween brownies filled with green frosting and topped with candy eyeballs, sprinkle bubbles, and a pretzel-stick stirring spoon. I used a fudgy boxed brownie mix for the base and focused on the decorating.
The detail that made the biggest difference was letting the brownies cool for a couple of minutes before shaping the centers. They need to be warm enough to press into a bowl, but slightly firm so the measuring spoon doesn’t sink straight to the bottom.
I used premade green frosting and Monster Lab sprinkles for my witch’s brew. I couldn’t find green round sprinkles for the bubbles, so I used white ones I already had—and they worked nicely against the green frosting.

Why You’ll Love These Halloween Brownies
- Boxed-mix shortcut: Start with a fudgy brownie mix prepared according to the package directions.
- Mini cauldron shape: A mini muffin pan and a rounded measuring spoon create the little bowls.
- Simple decorating: Premade frosting and Halloween sprinkles bring the witch’s brew to life.
- Fun finishing touch: A shortened pretzel stick becomes a tiny stirring spoon.

How to Make Cauldron Brownie Bites
Step 1: Prepare the brownie batter.
Prepare the fudgy brownie mix according to the directions on the box.
Step 2: Fill the mini muffin pan.
Generously grease the mini muffin cups with butter-flavored oil spray. Spoon the brownie batter into each cup, filling it level with the top. Bake the brownies.

Step 3: Shape the cauldrons while warm.
Let the brownies cool in the pan for a couple of minutes. While they’re still warm and pliable, gently press the rounded back of a tablespoon measuring spoon into each center to form a shallow bowl. Avoid pressing all the way through to the bottom.

Step 4: Remove the brownies and cool completely.
Gently slide a butter knife between each brownie and the edge of the mini muffin cup to loosen it, then carefully lift it out. Let the brownie bowls cool completely before adding frosting so the warmth doesn’t melt it.
Step 5: Pipe in the green frosting.
Fit a piping bag with an open-star tip and fill it with green frosting. Pipe the frosting into the center of each brownie bowl.

Step 6: Add the witch’s brew decorations.
Decorate the frosting with Monster Lab sprinkles, including candy eyeballs. Add round white or green sprinkles to look like bubbles.

Step 7: Add a stirring spoon.
Break just the very end off a mini pretzel stick to shorten it slightly. Insert it into the frosting at an angle to look like a spoon stirring the witch’s brew.

(Melissa’s Tips for These Halloween Brownies
- Grease generously. I heavily greased my mini muffin pan, then used a butter knife to loosen the edges. My brownies popped right out.
- Check your measuring spoon. Use one with a rounded, circular bottom to create the bowl shape.
- Watch the cooling stage. Shape the centers while the brownies are still warm and pliable, after a couple of minutes of cooling.
- Keep the bottoms intact. Press gently to make an indentation rather than pushing through the brownie.
- Cool completely before decorating. The brownie bowls should be completely cool before you pipe in the frosting.
- Include the eyeballs. They’re the detail that gives these little cauldrons their witch’s brew look!
