Flower Photo Craft (Printable Template for Kids Keepsake Gift)

This post may contain affiliate links – please read my disclosure statement.

I made this little flower photo craft after seeing how much people loved the idea… but I wanted something that was actually easy to recreate at home or in the classroom without a bunch of prep.

I tested a few different versions (and definitely had a couple that didn’t turn out quite right), but this is the one I kept coming back to — it’s simple, it looks adorable, and it actually works.

You’ll get a printable template + a super easy way to turn it into a keepsake that kids can make with very little help.

This is one of those crafts that feels special… but is secretly really low effort.

🌟 Why This Flower Photo Craft Actually Works (and Doesn’t Feel Complicated)

This version works because:

  • You can print everything ahead of time
  • Kids can cut and assemble it themselves
  • It turns into a keepsake you’ll actually want to keep
  • And the little details (like the leaf cutouts) make it feel more “real”

👉 This is the version that finally worked without overcomplicating it.

🖨️ What’s Included in the Printable (And How to Use Each Page)

✂️ How to Make the Flower Photo Craft (Step-by-Step)

  1. Cut out your flower, leaves, and stem
  2. Glue your photo into the center of the flower
  3. Attach the leaves to the stem
  4. Glue the stem to the back of the flower
  5. Add it to a cup, pot, or card

👉 That’s it — super simple.

🌿 How to Get the “V Cut” Leaf Look (The Easy Way That Actually Worked)

This was one of those things I overthought at first…

What worked best for me was:

  • Fold the leaf in half
  • Cut small diagonal slits along the fold
  • Open it back up

That naturally creates those little V-shaped cutouts and gives it that cute 3D look.

👉 You can follow the printed V guides… but honestly, folding and snipping was way easier.

And if you don’t want to do that step?
They still look really cute without cutting them.

📸 What Size Photo Works Best for the Medium Flower Template

I ended up using:

  • Medium flower
  • Medium leaves
  • A 200 x 200 square photo

That combo fit perfectly without having to resize anything a bunch of times.

(Definitely one of those “learned the hard way” things 😅)

🪴 How to Make This Craft Stand Up on Its Own

This part surprised me…

If you glue your paper cup all the way at the bottom of the page, the craft will actually stand up on its own.

Which makes it:

  • perfect for desks
  • cute for display
  • and honestly just more fun

💡 Real-Life Tips That Made This Easier

  • Folding the leaf before cutting made the V shapes way easier
  • Medium size worked best overall — not too big, not too small
  • Glue placement matters more than you think (especially for standing it up)
  • Let kids do their own cutting — it actually looks cuter when it’s not perfect

🎁 When to Use This Flower Photo Craft

This works really well for:

  • Mother’s Day
  • End of year classroom gifts
  • Grandparent keepsakes
  • Spring crafts
