Bake these simple Baked Apples on the grill or in the oven

  • Cook Time: 30 minutes
  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4 apples 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 apples – Jonathan, Jonagold, Rome or Granny Smith are all good for baking
  • 8 tsp. of brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. of cinnamon
  • 4 tsp. of butter
  • 1/2 cup of raisins

Instructions

Preparing your apples

  • Mix the brown sugar and cinnamon together
  • For each apple…
  • Starting at the bottom of each apple, add alternating layers of…
  • butter, brown sugar mixture, and then raisins
  • *you will probably get 2 layers before you get to the top of the apple
  • Add some butter to the top of the apple
  • Wrap tightly in foil

Baking on the grill:

  • Preheat grill to medium level heat
  • place apples over direct heat and close the lid
  • Cook for about 30 minutes or until the apple is soft
  • *alternate the apple position, a couple of times during the grilling process to ensure even cooking
  • Let the apples cool so the foil is cool to touch, open the foil and serve with ice cream or whipped topping

in oven:

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees
  • Place the foil-wrapped oven in the center of the oven and bake for 30-40 minutes
  • Let the apple cool a little before serving with ice cream or whipped topping
