This is a nice craft for younger or older kids. Believe it or not, it’s a little challenging. It’s a great craft for those school parties. For younger kids, you’ll just have to do a little advance prepping.
Here’s what you’ll need for…Make this DIY Pipe Cleaner Candy Craft Cane Ornament with the Kids this Christmas
- 2 red pipe cleaners
- 1 white pipe cleaner
- glue – glue dots would be the most simple for this craft, but anything tacky would work
- 6 inches of red yarn
Instructions:
- For younger kids, get your red pipe cleaners prepared ahead of time by…Gluing the 2 red pipe cleaners together
- *Older kids can do this part themselves
- Just place a glue dot or tacky glue (like Fabri-tac) on both ends of the red pipe cleaner and press them together to form 1 wide red pipe cleaner – like the photo above
- For younger kids, you can get the candy can started by doing a twist or two of the white pipe cleaner (leaving space between each wrap) around the 2 red pipe cleaners
- *Older kids can do this part themselves
- Once you’ve got a little white wrapped around the 2 red ones, keep it going. Wrap the white all the way down until you run out
- You’ll have excess red at the end
- Trim the excess off and form the pipe cleaners into a candy cane shape
- For a finishing touch…Tie a ribbon around the Pipe Cleaner Candy Cane Ornament
