This handprint craft would make a cute Valentine Card Holder or a Mother’s Day Craft. It’s easy to make, too. You’ll need very few supplies and you’ll have a treasured keepsake of your little ones.

Tips and Tricks for making Painted Handprints with Kids

  • Make sure you apply the paint liberally to all fingers and crevices
  • Really push firmly, pushing each finger and fingertip one at a time
  • Don’t worry if some of the paint doesn’t transfer – you can go in with a paintbrush to fix any blank spots
  • Have wet wipes handy and consider placing a towel on laps

Supplies Needed:

  • Green Paint – I used glitter green paint
  • Red, Yellow, and Pink paint – another good color would be lavender
  • 2 Paper plates
  • Ribbon – about 2 ft. long
  • low-temperature glue gun and glue sticks
  • scissors

Instructions:

So sweet! This Valentine craft would make a good Valentine Card Holder and then a great hand print keepsake!

  • Paint your child’s hand green and press it onto the middle of the plate, so the fingers are on the top half
  • Let dry
  • Use the red, orange, and pink paint to make hearts with thumbs and flowers with fingertips
  • Flowers are just 5 fingertips with an orange fingertip in the center of the circle
  • Hearts are 2 thumbprints facing opposite of each other
  • *you can paint a point in the bottom corner to make it really resemble a heart
  • To make the cover use a paper plate that is cut in half
  • Turn it around and glue it to the bottom half of the plate
  • Finish with another thumbprint heart
  • Add ribbon with your glue to the back of the handprint plate, so I can hang it on the wall
