Due to negative temperatures, the kids recently had two days off of school. The only problem with that snow day is that the kids were not able to go play in the snow! Now, that is frustrating. All that snow, and a polar vortex – not a good combination, in any way. So…we made snowmen “inside”! And, we still had our snow day hot cocoa to go with these cute Snowman Chocolate Spoons! Here’s what we did to make these cuties!:
You’ll Need:
- White Melting Chocolate
- Black Pearl Sprinkles
- Orange Candy Fruit Slices
- Pull’n’Peel Licorice
- Spoons
- Wax Paper Lined small baking sheet, or flat plate
- Toothpick
Instructions:
- First off, melt the chocolate according to package directions, and dip your spoons into the melted chocolate
- Transfer the spoons, one at a time from the chocolate bowl to the wax paper lined sheet
- Once you have covered enough spoons or have run out of room on the sheet – place the sheet into the freezer to quickly set up. It might take 5 minutes to do this
- While you are waiting you can get your sprinkles ready – My suggestion is to pour a small amount into a little bowl, especially if you are working with kids. If this baby tips over…oh boy! I also like to use the lid as a little bowl – it works!
- Cut little triangles out of the orange slices
- Peel the licorice apart for the scarves – I got 3 scarves out of each piece of licorice, and I pulled them in sections of three with each color included – just like the picture above
- When the spoons are frozen, take them out and begin assembling the snowman
- Dip the orange candy noses into the melted chocolate and place them on the spoon
- Using a toothpick as a glue stick, dip it in the warm chocolate and use it as glue for the black pearl sprinkles
- Tie the licorice scarves around the base of the snowman’s head!
- They can easily stand up in a tall vase, or cup for a Hot Chocolate Bar
- Enjoy with or without hot chocolate
- Here are a couple snowmen the kids made
- Connor (5) placed his stem in the cup, so he’s more like a hot cocoa buddy. Not really what I had in mind, but still fun!
- Ella’s creation (she’s 7)
- These would make cute gifts, too!
- Happy Winter!
