How long will Haystack Cookies last at Room Temperature?

  • Keep no bake haystack cookies covered in a container and at room temperature for up to 2 weeks

Should I refrigerate my Chocolate Haystack Cookies?

  • You should not refrigerate your chocolate cookie. Chocolate will take on condensation from the refrigerator possible causing it to crystalize and form unsightly white spots on your cookies

Equipment

  • wax paper
  • mixing bowls

Ingredients

  • 2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 10 oz. butterscotch chips
  • 4 cups crunchy chow mein noodles
  • wax paper
  • 1 11 oz. Autumn mix candy corn – you'll want the ones with orange tips plus the traditional ones
  • 72 Candy eyeballs

Instructions

  • In a microwave proof bowl, or in a metal bowl over simmering water on the stove – melt the chocolate and butterscotch chips until smooth
  • Fold in chow mein noodles and coat them with chocolate
  • Tear off a sheet of wax paper and place it on your work surface
  • Begin spooning mounds of chocolate noodles onto the wax paper
  • Decorate with eyes
  • Break off an orange tip from the candy corn to place beaks under eyes
  • Then, carefully place candy corn pointed tip side down into your back of your turkeys for feathers

Notes

  • If the candy corn falls off, then just glue it back on with melted chocolate – OR – use nutella as glue
  • *semi sweet chocolate is a soft chocolate and so is butterscotch – Think about candy bar – It will react to the heat of your hand and start to melt a little bit. My solution is to use chocolate candy melts. This won’t give you the butterscotch and chocolate flavor but it will maintain the structure and hold onto the candy corn a little better. It’s up to you – either one works – it’s just that candy melt is a little stronger
