These fun Octopus Hot Dogs are a fun summer lunch for the kids. Easy to make and the perfect food for an Under the Sea or Summer Party!

When summertime finally rolls around the kids are excited to celebrate. What better way to celebrate than making some summer themed fun foods. Like these Rice Krispies popsicles, Hot Air Balloon Cupcakes, and these Under the Sea Themed Party Snacks with a treasure chest and an Oreo Crab.

These Octopus hot dogs are a delicious meal, and an easy-to-make, fun food that the kids can get involved in creating with you.

How to Make Octopus Hot Dogs

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees

Place parchment paper on a baking sheet

Unroll crescent rolls

Place hot dogs onto the wide corner of each crescent roll so that it is centered in the middle and the corner tip is pointing upward

Fold the corner over the hot dog

Roll the hot dog along with the folded-over crescent roll

Place seam side down on paper-lined baking sheet

Use a knife to cut slits in the hot dog.

Note: I made six slits in my hot dogs, but someone on Facebook reminded me that an octopus has eight legs. The kids would definitely notice my mistake, so you might want to make eight slits instead.

Place hot dogs onto a prepared baking dish

Bake for 11-13 minutes or until the crescent roll is completely cooked

Let them cool for just a minute so they are warm to the touch, and then add eyes and other embellishments you desire with your food markers.

Pro Tips

I forgot to add a simple smile, and I do think that would be so cute. While you are adding a face to your octopus, don’t forget a smile, and maybe even some fun eyebrows.

  • 1 crescent roll tube
  • 8 hot dogs
  • oven

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375° F
  • Unroll crescent dough onto baking sheet
  • Place hot dogs centered at the wide end so the point is facing upward
  • Fold the point over the hot dog
  • Roll the hot dog and crescent roll
  • Place seam side down
  • Cut 8 strips in the exposed hot dogs for octopus legs
  • Bake for 11-13 minutes or until rolls are cooked through
  • Let cool so it is warm to the touch and decorate with the food marker
