You’ll Need:

  • 4 cups of fresh or frozen blueberries or any  other berry
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1 tsp. of grated lemon peel
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • Vanilla ice cream

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups of fresh or frozen blueberries or any  other berry
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1 tsp. of grated lemon peel
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • Vanilla ice cream

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
  • In a 10 in. ovenproof skillet, combine berries, sugar, water, lemon peel, and lemon juice
  • bring to a boil
  • Reduce the heat, and simmer for about 5 minutes, or until the mixture is thickened
  • While that’s cooking, take a small bowl, and whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt
  • Cut in the butter with a fork, or whisk, until the mixture has coarse crumbs
  • Add the milk, and stir until moist
  • Drop the batter by spoonful’s onto the skillet of berries
  • Transfer the dish to the oven
  • Bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until the dumplings are golden

Notes

  • Take the skillet out of the oven, and after it has only cooled slightly…add scoops of vanilla ice cream and dig in
