Coffee Milkshake with Caramel & Toffee
I used to make this coffee milkshake to give myself a little dose of caffeine. When the kids were little, they seemed to be on a never-ending coffee high and I needed something to keep up.
Now, that my kids are teens and pre-teens, I’ve been making these coffee milkshakes as a special request from them. Boy, times have changed. Luckily, this milkshake is an easy request to fill, as I get it often.
Here’s what I love about this Coffee Milkshake:
- easy to make
- always a hit
- delicious and full of caffeine for a mid-day pick me up
FAQs
Making Ahead and Storage:
Can I make this milkshake ahead of time?
I wouldn’t recommend making this milkshake more than 30 minutes in advance. Adjust that time for hot summer days, as it might melt even quicker. It will still taste delicious, it just won’t be as creamy
Storing Leftovers:
If you are going to drink your milkshake within a few hours, then you can just store it in the refrigerator
For overnight storage, store in the freezer and thaw in the refrigerator
Do I have to use a blender?
No. You can mix everything by hand, although it will require some muscle and might not blend as quickly or as well
Tips and Tricks for making this Milkshake:
- feel free to substitute butterscotch sauce for caramel. I couldn’t find it at my local grocery store, so I used caramel instead. I’m not really sure if there was even a difference in taste, at all!
- soften the ice cream a bit before making this milkshake to make it a little easier to blend and scoop
- if you aren’t able to easily scoop through the ice cream, run the scoop under hot water first. The heat from the scoop should help with scooping
- adding liquids to the blender first will help the blender cut through the ice and ice cream
If you are ready to make this creamy coffee milkshake, let’s make sure you have everything you’ll need:
Ingredients:Â
- vanilla ice cream
- milk – 2% or whole milk works best
- brewed coffee – I wouldn’t add a flavored coffee to this recipe. Just plain black coffee works best
- Toffee Candy Bar – (or 2) Something similar to a Heath Bar
- Cool Whip – this does not have to be thawed
- caramel ice cream syrup – or butterscotch ice cream syrup
- ice cubes
- whipped cream topping
